While far too many friends in my social circles are walking a more dire road, where the big c is The Big C (as opposed to mine, where the c stands for "cats"), I'll be documenting what I have going on and whatnot, both to keep it straight in my head (because senility and percocet) and in case any of y'all do anything similar, or I have to do somthing like this again.

Had the repair work done yesterday, and all apprently went swimmingly. The nerve block finally wore off, after about 27 hours, but I've been staying on top of the prescription painkiller regumen, so there isn't too much discomfort; a bit of a twinge as I did the rehab moves, which my be exacerbated by that arm's musculature being cold from the ice pump I'm wrapped up in to mitigate the pain and swelling.

I just did my first set of rehab moves, and will be working them as aggressively as my body allows. I expect to be allowed to lift without restrictions in six months at the outside, so ballparking two training blocks with Josh next spring and summer should mean mid-to-late February to resume full-body training. In the interim, I am going to keep doing leg work, even if it's just leg extensions and curls on my bench and onearmed planks for my core, and hitting the elliptical and exercise bike when I return to the office to restore my conditioning and lose some weight since I won't be eating and lifting to make gains.

I'm already looking forward to resuming training. There is apparently a powerlifting meet in Orlando that I think I should set my sights on for next year, and another friend told me about an almost perfect for me competition: bench press max reps at a predetemined % bodyweight, then run a 5k; each rep subtracts :30 from the race time (apparently, this "Pump and Run" thing is one of Arnold's brainchildren; I wonder if I can talk him into making a deadlift variant *grin*)

The repairs only cost $40k, not $6mil, so I have a long way to go to be Steve Austin, but I'm optimistic that we have the technology to rebuild me stronger and better than before, and I'm looking forward to doing so. :-)

The cats have been, as expected, varying levels of (un)helpful, from Kirk climbing my sling to shove her ass in my face yesterday afternoon, to snuggling on my lap last night to provide elevation and warmth to the hand on that side to help reduce swelling.

Also, Kirk snores slightly and occasionally farts in her sleep; I fear she might think she's a dog. Or a dude. *grin*
