[courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] thewronghands, who starred in a Y!M-based dream last night. . . though I'd be darn surprised if [livejournal.com profile] regyt's handle there is actually "vamp" and that she'd need to converse with me about the goings-on among the technerati.  Something about aggressive intrusion blocking (not quite the ICE of fictional yore), but definitely on the white/grey hat vigilante end of the spectrum.]

If you have not yet registered your numbers with http://www.donotcall.gov, today was widely reported to be the drop-dead date to do so. It isn't, but it's certainly not the dumbest thing you can do with fifteen seconds of your time.

I had forgotten to do it for the new cell #'s and the new house's land line.

ETA: The Snopes Report on this offers some reassurance in the form of more information. There =is= no deadline, and adding cell phone #'s to it is not presently necessary (but if you're feeling paranoid, there's no reason not to do it. FTR, I did, for both myself and K).

Oh, good. Now I know when to sneak you the paperwork that nicks me an extra cut of the forecast royalties when we turn it into a series...

Unfortunately for your extremely low-aimed avarice, can barely even hold a cup of tea that early in the morning, what makes you think i'll be able to put The Official Scribble on anything? ;-)

My fluttering eyelashes? And.....

Wait. That particular persuasion bit is still on the camera. Hmmm.

Not to mention, liable to result in a stern frowning-at from certain quarters if done publically. *laugh*

Oh, it's PG rated, tops. I just put on a little weight in recent months, and decided to document some of the evidence especially for you. You'll see. Uh.. merry early christmas??

i will endeavor to avoid squealing with mirthful glee.

mostly because the people at the office would be scared, and think i'd gotten into a preliminary sample of $Unspecified_New_Beverage or something.

or i'd pull a hamstring or something. the trainer at the gym has a sick sense of humor.

email, however works just fine. :-)

Oh, I've heard the gleeful squeal. You should really not make that public. ;)

So tell me more about this dream.
Date/Time: 2004-12-16 12:16 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] etcet.livejournal.com
are you still using your corvid @ corvid dot stuff email? [this isn't necessarily germane to the dream, but that's where i've sent a couple of emails over the last week]

The gist of the dream was, you and $cadre_of_skilled_hacker_friends were weathering some sort of distributed assault on your collective boxen (not DDoS, more like a concerted effort to pwn y'all), and in addition to doing your (collective pronoun) usual good-guy forensic work to dissect the traffic and packets to figure out who, where, and how, there was also retaliatory programming and assorted kung fu being discussed.

I was getting all of this second-hand via Y!M from [livejournal.com profile] regyt, whose handle was "vamp," because you and crew were too busy Fighting Evil and Attempting To Kick Evil In The Squishy Bits.

I have no idea why I was being kept in the loop, except possibly to be a honeypot or something. Regyt didn't seem to mind the occasional flirtatious aside, in any case. *laugh*

I am indeed still using that mail. I think I'm up to date on everything that needed replying to.

Hahaha to the dream. Things like that have happened in real life. That's very funny.
