In the realm of relatively good news, it seems that the sewer line from my house does not, in fact, make a sharp turn in the vicinity of the tree beside the house and then shoot thirty feet out to the curb. Instead, it runs ten feet straight into the alley and meets up with a city sewage easement, at which point, it Ceases To Be My Problem.

RotoRooter will be out to snake down a camera tomorrow to find out where the problem(s) exist, and if they're mine, or the City of Tampa's, to fix. That's a couple hundred bucks, but will hopefully illuminate whatever hydrodynamic 'shoes have been giving me headaches this week.

If City of Tampa's like City of Annapolis - they should be able to pop the city-side cleanout or manhole and snake & camera from their side too. You should definitely give them a call and see if they'll charge you anything to check it out. 'Nap-town doesn't charge AFAIK, so maybe Tampa doesn't either? Your plumber can pop the city-side cleanout or manhole also and see if they're holding water which would indicate a city-side problem too.

Bonus on it only being 10' instead of 30' though! Most lines we do are about 60', and we recently installed a new main sewer & water line for a family that was 400' to the county taps. Freaking sickos. :P At 400', get a well and a septic dammit! :>
