digitaldiscipline
For all my bitching about not seeing the needle on the home scale do anything I find attractive, and the digital readout on the one at the club saying the same aggravating thing, I wrangled some good news out of the fact that I'm kicking my ass at spinning class three times a week, and lifting three or four.
My body fat is under 20%.
Today's 19.6 represents about a two or three percent improvement over when we first hit the gym five months ago (holy crap, it's been five months?!?!)
I am going to damn well take solace (and pride) in the fact that I've apparently turned five pounds of flab into something better.
CW: 181
GW: ??? (was 165, but I think BMI is skewed for couch potatoes)
SW: 183
Fuck gravity, I can lift more, bike farther and harder, and maybe, just maybe, see some improvement in my back, arms, and shoulders.

That is really cool. For all I'm doing, I can't seem to get the % lower than 26. However, I'm supposed to be able to incubate live young and all. Men get a free pass on that stuff. ;)

of course, i'm built like a not-that-svelte woman - 43-36-41. heh.
not so much with the child-bearing hips here. ;-)

for example Ronnie Brown First round draft pick this year.
6'0" 233 lbs, that gives him a BMI of 31.6... so apperently he's obese.
Nick Luchey (Full Back Greenbay) 6'2" 273 pounds BMI 35.0!!!
Even Ahman Green is coming out over wieght. 29.6 just a shade under obese.
If your exercising a lot I would disregard the BMI totally.

nice to know even the little guys in the nfl are fat bastards. ;-)

Hell, according to the formula, at 6ft, my ideal weight was approximately 154 lbs. I'd say I was only that thin through the early college years. Once I got into pharmacy school, I blew that.
They're supposed to be recalibrating the BMI, but it's going to matter very little when your typical person is obese (more than 20% over ideal body weight) under any measurement. I think a combination of the BMI and body fat would be much better.
As for the first round draft picks...keep in mind that most of them have single digit body fat.
