[livejournal.com profile] jabber again shares the love. . . that back-alley, I-feel-dirty kind of love. It seems that Big Black Dick doesn't care for Amnesty International's criticism of Gitmo, which is obnoxious and odious in and of itself (if unsurprising), but what -really- had me looking for the small-caliber rounds was this little gem.

Maybe I'm being manipulated by CNN's phrasing and seeing machinations where none exist, but put like that, I have visions of the Bush Administration weaseling a way into remaining in power, if not indefinitely, than certainly longer than is democratically established.

Ugh. It's articles like the first one that have chased me away from reading/watching/listening to mainstream news the last 4+ years. I just get SO ANGRY with the shite that Shrub & Co. spout, and it's not healthy to feel that way every day.

Sure it's healthy, unless you're allergic to lead and secession. . .

What do you mean "democratically established"?

the public perception is that we actually have a voice in which asshole drives the bus every four years. . .

Bus? This is not a bus, it's a truck filled with nitroglycerine.

I note that Cheney's first remarks are not to deny claims of abuse, but to rather (seemingly) defend them...because of how many people we've "freed".

And, I *do* so hope this country doesn't fall into the trap of continuing his term beyond it's normal limitations a la FDR. This is *not* WWII, and we do *not* need that man at the helm any longer than is absolutely necessary.

And people wonder why I might consider leaving for Canada.

He was the Iraqi Minister of Information before the invasion. He's the guy who said stuff like "There are no Americans in Baghdad!" while you could see a column of M1-A1 Abrahms tanks over his shoulder. Apparently there is a job opening for a man of his talents....

"There is no torture going on at Guantanamo Bay!"

"We never flushed a Koran down the shitter!"

"The insurgents are on the ropes!"

"President Bush is not a moron!"

And so forth - basically all the things the US govt. is spewing at us. How the hell is this administration still in power? If Thomas Jefferson were alive today....
