[ostensibly from [livejournal.com profile] sukipot, based upon mutual laziness]

1) Total number of books owned?
I have absolutely no idea. Going by linear shelf-feet, about fifty. At 1.5" per book, that's about 400 spines, which feels about right, or maybe a tad low. Add five linear feet worth of magazines if you're feeling pedantic, but it's mostly Maxim and a handful of Playboys & manga.

2) The last book I bought:
*thinks* I have absolutely no idea. It's been a little while, but I'm pretty sure I've picked up -something- since Dark Tower VII came out. . . ?

3. The last book I read:
Currently reading Year's Best SF 9 and The Stupidest Angel (Christopher Moore); last book I finished was Brave New World (last week).

4) Books that mean a lot to me:
The Long Walk - King (as Bachmann)
Fair New World - Lou Tafler
Cosmos - Carl Sagan
The Stand - King
Neuromancer - Gibson

5. Tag five people and have them fill out this poll:
I'm curious what [livejournal.com profile] geeki, [livejournal.com profile] cavalorn, [livejournal.com profile] critus, [livejournal.com profile] masque__, and [livejournal.com profile] mightyman have to say on the subject.

Or shocked that I made the readers question list :)

Love ya.

Well, for as much as we talk, I have no idea what your literary habits are. :-)

You tagged me? How odd. I don't do these things.

I will tell you that the last book I purchased was a persian-farsi dictionary (my third), and that I have at least enough books to fill three 7' bookshelves.

And although it doens't mean much to me, I love "Good Omens" by Gaiman.

It's a thinly-justified excuse to see you post, mademoiselle. :-)

Good lord.. haven't I been doing that enough lately?

yes, but just lately. you'd been terribly scarce.

I read "Lamb" by Christopher Moore and loved it. Unfortunetly all the other books of his were 'meh'. How is The Stupidest Angel?

I just finished reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris (humourous essays) and though it took some warm up time I was howling at his experiences and observations.

Happy Reading!

KC

Lamb is a riot; I've liked everything of Moore's that I've picked up ("Fluke" is the only one I haven't, to my knowledge); he gives me hope that I might make it as a writer.

Practical Demonkeeping - didn't wow me.
Island of the Sequined Love Nun - meh.

Maybe I was just disappointed because I thought Lamb was really hilarious.
Do you read Christopher Moore's Blog?

nope. i think i have [livejournal.com profile] gibsonblog on here, but he doesn't post much. I think the closest i come to reading someone famous is either [livejournal.com profile] cavalorn or [livejournal.com profile] thewronghands *G*

i understand a lot of authors whose work i enjoy keep blogs, but it's depressing enough to live my own rather dull life without seeing glimpses of the dull-but-interesting-but-dull-but-surreal lives of the slightly famous, and the various daily detritus that they either get to sift through, or generate (Gaiman (http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/journal.asp) comes to mind, and i'm sure there are others)

I so dodged that bullet. Whew!

You've got Nabokov in your hot little hands. I didn't need to ask. ;-)

He's one of them yes. ;-)

Hmm, to be honest, I'm a bit suprised that The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy (quadrilogy?) by Douglas Adams wasn't mentioned.

1) Total Number of Books? Not sure right now as a lot were given away before the move and the rest are boxed up.
2) Last book(s) I bought? Maybe the DaVinci Code "series", though your parents left me Angels and Demons.
3) Last book I read? That's easy: iJoy2 Turbo Massage Chair owner's guide.
4) Books that mean a lot: Hitchhiker's series of course. Neuromancer by William Gibson. Some of the Dungeons and Dragons Books by R.A. Salvatore (and some of the D&D RPG books as well). Oh yeah, and my copy of the thesaurus which made it from 6th grade through college. Professionally, it would have to be Applied Therapeutics by Koda-Kimble, Young (http://www.lww.com/product/?0-7817-4845-3) (I can't believe I spent that much on a single book), or possibly Review of Medical Physiology by Ganong.

WTF was I thinking????
