I don't see where people got the notion that there would be exhumed remains floating around. Yes, you don't want to be in contact with or drink the floodwater, because it's liable to have been in contact with dead stuff, but it's not like the denizens of Metairie cemetary are going to be staging a parade down Canal Street, bereft of their sarcophagi.

Due to the high watertable some of the older cemetaries still have brick vaults above ground with wooden caskets. They don't withstand hurricanes nor floodwaters well at all.

Yes the newer cemetaries probably fare better but there are some old boneyards around there.
