Okay. Seems like folks are starting to trickle onto the new server [fie on your clever naming conventions, and don't be surprised if Effoaydee shows up ;-) ].

The logistics of everyone grouping from level 1 are, let's face it, impossible. To that end, we're trying to coordinate a relatively coherent approach to getting everyone together somewhere that will be non-leathal to reach alone, or in a small group.

Right now, it's looking like the scenic wastes south of Orgrimmar (Durotar, Razor Hill, Crossroads) . . . which, conveniently enough for the Undead contingent on Kalimdor, is where the zeppelin tower is.

The plan is, a week from next Thursday (10/27), we'll all try to meet up at the Gates of Orgrimmar, and everyone should be around level 8-10. If you want to get there ahead of time and chill out in Orgrimmar to build up some Rested bonus, or play the auction house, or develop tradeskills, that's fine; just try not to be above level 10.

This should allow everyone to get a feel for their new character, as well as build up a small cash reserve and earn a decent amount of faction reputation in their homeland, as well as put us in a position where we can all share the same quests.

If you notice that someone else from the group is on (I'll be posting a roster of the characters I'm aware of later this afternoon), teaming up with them is encouraged if they're in your vicinity.

I will see about setting up both an LJ community and Yahoo Group to try and facilitate conversation and discussion, at least until I can figure out something better.

If anyone has suggestions for modifications to this plan (both for gameplay or outside communication), please email me at hooray.death @ gmail.com.

Hooray, Death!

Dunno 'bout her, but Effahfndye will definitely be poking her orcish head in for some "Hooray, Death!" fun and mayhem. ;-)

Well, Raafe might just be for administrative purposes, and, really, FOAD is just such a me-like sentiment to express. . .

Funny...that's what was going through my head when I created "Effahfndye" (pr: eff off and die).

I've been in titters ever since.

Truer words were never uttered. I like giggling maniacally under my breath while the world goes on unaware.

Sounds good to me. Ohemgee is already L6 and climbing fast since this announcement. I should be to 10 in no time. Just have to pick enough pockets to raise the cash to get my tradeskills now (taking herbalism/skinning for initial push, then going to actual ones) and do some runs between Brill and Orgrimmar for AH pushing on the cash front so we can raise the 10g for the guild charter.

And... because I need some bags. This single 16 slotter business blows goats. Luckily there's always someone levelling tailoring who will have bags in the AH cheap. :)

I want to take tailoring as a skill (gosh what a surprise) :) So I'm sure that will also help out.

And I'm a noob at the whole WoW so I've been trying to read up what I can on the boards.

What's your toon's name? Get it set up and logged in and I'll mail you linen so you can help with the baggie dilemma and get some skillups. ;)

Tailoring is a great tradeskill, especially for mages/priests/warlocks, as you can save yourself a hell of a lot of trouble and cost in making quest items and epic gear you'll need later. Both my L60 Mage and my L40 Warlock have it. Great tradeskill overall. And once you get up into the higher ranges, the steady flow of bag selling cash doesn't hurt either.

AND, what's even nicer is that you can make greens for us disenchanters to breeak if we give you mats so we can skillup too. Works out great for both on skillups and saves you a boatload of cash on getting all the cloth to do it. :)

BTW, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've been playing since about a month after release, have three characters at L40+ and co-mod the [livejournal.com profile] worldofwarcraft community here. I'm happy to help.

See, officers don't get their posts -just- for looking good. ;-)

Hehe. Nah, I wouldn't think I had.

Of course, also having officer rank in Tainted Legion doesn't hurt my cred, either. :D

I set up one character right now - as Nahash. She's an undead Warlock. I've been drooling over this game for some time, but just haven't had the money or time to put into it. Not that I have abundant amount of time, but if I can play while at work, then :) I'd be happy with that. I'm sure I'll have the learning curve of doing an online RPG - but I've been doing paper and pencil RPGs for 20 years. If I can get on (even briefly) before Monday, I'll let either you or Rafe know.

No problem - as detailed elsewhere, there's no incentive to rush your HD character. if you want to learn on an alt, or whatever, that's cool. we've both got higher-level or endgame characters on Lothar (i'm on alliance, she's on horde - many of the other Deathies are also over there) that get the bulk of our playtime.
Date/Time: 2005-10-13 16:14 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] netgoth.livejournal.com
And I'd be pretty willing to say that either of our main groups would welcome you, depending on if you wanted to play Alliance (Rafe) or Horde. (me)

ayup.

You don't have to be on for me to mail ya stuff, but you do have to run through the intro "movie" and actually log to the server after creation before you become active in the mail system so I can send things. That's all I'd need. :)

Ken was noodling around on WoW and has a level 8 Tauren warrior. (bastard) I gave him the server info you posted. Now, I asked at P/T job #2 about setting up my own cpu and using the T1...I've been told yes, this can be done, but not offically endorse. (nod, nod, wink, wink) (coming from the IT guys that play evercrack on company time)

So, I'll need to put in some work to get my undead Warlock up to level. Wish I could do it while at work, but got to build the system first :/

Well, keen.

You each have your own copies of the game, or will you be a one-box household?

Honestly, it's not going to be hard to be around level 10 in two weeks. The hard part will not be shooting into the teens by that point [thus, you may want to play around with an alternate character on a different server so as not to inadvertently get ahead of yourself with your HD character]

Just got the one copy and loaded it up on the one computer at home. It's why I want to build a small portable CPU to take with me to work - but we *may* have to get 2 accounts. It just depends if we would ever want to play at the same time. At this point, I just need to get a good small tower - I kind of like the one's that have the handles on them - and then upgrade the motherboard on the main computer and get whatever else I need to get myself going :)

shuttle's SFF pc's are really nice - they include everything onboard except video - so you just need to drop in an optical drive, hard disk, ram, cpu, and video card.

You all scare me. I keep thinking about getting into this form of crack you all speak about, but none of this was in English and I have a game show to conquer. So I'ma gonna shut up now. ;)
