As [livejournal.com profile] ross_winn said:

The death toll for US soliders, airmen, sailors and marines in Iraq has hit the 2,000 mark.

The Pentagon is asking the media not to report it as a milestone.

Motherfuckers.

Remember: don't show the coffins, don't report the casualty rates. It's the only way to keep what little support there is for this war....which the administration lied to us to get into.

But they're going to start reporting "enemy body counts" to help show "progress" in the war.

*cough*

Vietnam syndrome, anyone?

I wonder why they still bother . . . It's pretty apparent the administration doesn't give a shit for We The People, or our opinions.

Do we get to mark it as a milestone when we lose more soldiers than the number of deaths in the original events that sparked this thing off? If you count casualties in Afghanistan, too, we must be getting pretty close. "Hey, we're much more efficient at getting our people killed than you are, you stinkin' terrorists!" That'll show 'em.

Heck we've already killed more Iraqis and Afghanis than Americans we've lost (including soldiers) by some completely absurd factor. That means we win, right?

:::shakes head:::

What's next? Calligula for President? Does anyone else see a road declining exponentially in front of us? All roads lead to Rome indeed (as in, the fall of).

No no.

Caligula was FAR too immoral for this gang. We might actually get to have some FUN with Caligula in charge. Orgies. Vestial Virgins. Bread and Circuses.

DECLINE OF THE FAMILY!!!

More likely it'd be Torquemada or Richelieu. Someone with a tie to the almighty. Americans are very concerned about morality, remember?

I most heartily agree, but with one addendum. 'Americans are very concerned about "morality", remember?'

It depends on how you're defining that word I guess, and the current administrations actions (plus the actions of most of their toadies and voter base) don't happen to fall into mine.

I'm just pleased to see DeLay indicted (wasn't his mugshot cute?), and I have a sense of great anticipation over this thing with Cheney as well.

Is that the winds of change a-blowin'? I can dream, can't I? :)
