Crazy Lady across the street tucked a neighborhood alert into my mail today, encouraging us to go to town hall to tell the rich asshole who owns the shitty used car lot around the corner to fuck off and stop violating the zoning codes. So I zinged this off to Code Enforcement, then sent it to the Tampa Tribune:
ETA: Feedback from the Code Enforcement Dep't.
Two residential lots, 7203 and 7205 N Arden, have been fenced in and annexed by the owner of a used car lot operating using the address of an adjoining lot on Nebraska Avenue, one Mr. Charneco. Mr. Charneco has repeatedly ignored proper rezoning policies, and has not posted any notices expressing any intent to re-zone the parcels, yet has no compunction about littering them with used cars. This is both a gross misuse of the parcels themselves and an indignity to the residents of the neighborhood as a whole.
Mr. Charneco had been, barely, complying with the residential zoning of the 7205 parcel by parking a trailer there (in violation of Tampa city code), but even this flimsy pretense (literally) went up in smoke when the trailer burned in January of 2005. The corrougated steel fence erected enclosing the site is more than an eyesore - it is a crass attempt to shield the eyes of the neighborhood and city from his misconduct.
Furthermore, neighbors on adjoining properties have mentioned threatening tactics engaged in by Mr. Charneco to coerce them to part with their land.
The residents nearby are going to be convening at City Hall at 9:00 on November 16th to reject any request to re-zone the property, but I would urge you to inspect the flagrant violations already being perpetrated on these properties by the absentee landowner.
ETA: Feedback from the Code Enforcement Dep't.
