If I get my $100 check from the Govt to ease my gas pains (one of the options on the table) I am sure that will solve all our problems. When a resource is low, it is best to add funding to use up more of that resource. It is like Scrabble, when you are out of letters, you WIN!

Yes, but all these blowhards and morons are preaching conservation and responsibility and how we need to curb our dependency and waste, and they're taking hulking SUV's for a one-block trip, or letting them idle for hours, being blatantly fucking wasteful... what kind of half-assed, sack-of-shit example is that supposed to set?

At least one of 'em had the good taste to walk to lunch instead of get driven. Lead by example, don't simply be a flagrantly hypocritical batch of "do as I say, not as I do" fuckbags.

Funny, I seem to recall everyone was saying "blame bush" and "tax the oil companies more and do away with their breaks" and not preaching conservation and/or responsibility. Re-reading the article, there was only *ONE* person who said anything about conservation, and that was the chick from Alaska, whose backyard would presumably have an oil derrick otherwise.

They're not setting any example. They're doing the same thing everyone else in america is doing.

Okay, they're the same flavor of asshole as most other people. But the hand-wringing and stupidity isn't any more palatable, for all that.

And, as Alaskans have pointed out to me [you hear that, delicarose? You're alaskans! ;-)], they're sick to fucking death of the duck-squeezers telling them what they can and cannot do, and many of them are very much in favor of expanding energy exploration, because areas of their state totalling more than the size of Texas are currently declared off-limits by, and I may mis-quote here, "do-goody liberals who've never been anywhere near here."

Basically, politicians everywhere remain full of shit, and should all be dumped in the ocean, an ounce or two of lead heavier.
