Meaningful punishment meted out for egregious asshat.

For as staunch a supporter of the death penalty as I can be, I think that's what ZM wanted, and I'm glad to see that the jury's verdict, whether it was influenced by that fact or the simple truth of his own deranged take on the universe, imposes the more meaningful penalty of the two options presented to them.

I'm just wondering if he'll be in general population. And if someone should take it on themselves to take a shot at him. But then again - gotta wonder if he'd be a hero to muslims on the inside.

I've watched too much Oz for my own good.

To my way of thinking, it's immaterial. If he gets ignominiously shanked in lockup, that's a different matter than the State putting him to death.

Yeah, plus it's just at the hands of another inmate - not at the hands of the US government.

I am for the death penalty. I think this case presented a challange as to the correct choice. On one hand, killing him for his part in this would have been the right thing to do IMO (but it would have made him a martyr). Letting him rot takes the wind out of his sails (but it could make us look weak). Either way, I'm for whatever choice makes the individual suffer more - so let him rot. Hopefully in a location where he'll be within access of his other inmates.
