Between the honest-to-g*d coverage [livejournal.com profile] niugnep's FQU got in the local paper and the boycott of the freaking Dixie Chicks, it's hard to believe this is ostensibly the same nation I was born into, woke up to acres of bunting on July 4, 1976, or even had a horrible collection of dot-com jobs in at the turn of the century.

As [livejournal.com profile] ashengrace noted, "When did the American flag begin spouting swastikas"?

If the world is fucked, how do I get to be the one wearing the strap-on?

i'll admit to knowing diddly-squat about this, other than one of the DCs made a disparaging remark about Shrub, and in retaliation, they're being shunned by radio stations, apology be damned.

Sheesh. She shouldn't have bothered apologizing. My dad's family is from Texas, and I'm rather ashamed to know that they shared the state at any time with Shrub.

I can't tell if he's stupid-stupid or crazy-stupid, but it's all bad, bad news. Either way, it's so infuriating that an illegitimate president is doing all he can to tank this country. Such a fuckstick. *grumble*

Oh, and did you know that there's a superflu coming in from Asia! Oh, joy!

i don't buy the "illegitimate president" argument, personally. it's not like bore had much to recommend him, either.

superflu: big whoop-de-damn-do. we've got west nile, thanks. the talking heads contend that most of it died off with the mosquitos when we had frost, but i'll believe that when i see it. seeing it first-hand (okay, second-hand) when K had a mild case. . .

oh, who am i kidding - it's darwinism, killing off the weak and infirm, because "civilization" is allowing too many unfit humans to beget too many more unfit humans.

[hey, isn't my asbestos thong sexy?]

None of 'em had much of anything to recommend them, in the long run. I just don't think Gore would have been as bad for the country. And the appointing of Bush at president (by the court) just doesn't sit well with me.

As for superflu... Well, I'm on the west coast. We get lots of nice presents from Asia. But the Darwinism angle is true enough. For some reason, I sometimes find these humanitarian attitudes cropping up in my brain. Probably just hypoglycemia.
