If anyone wants to hear my "Corporate Flunky" voice, now you can! That's right, for the next few weeks, and intermittently after that, I'm the voice of my company's podcasts. Which works well, considering I've got, as the saying goes, a face made for radio. ;-)
I need to try and remember to engage my inner salty sea-dog when the phone rings, if for no other reason than to confuse and amuse my coworkers (I am currently 0-for-1 on this front; however, more importantly, 1-for-1 on getting the user's problem fixed).
In a shocking display of lameness, I went to bed at 9:00 last night, and woke up with a scratchy throat.
Trying to be more proactive about health stuff (instant oatmeal for breakfast, lots and lots of water, refilled my herbal supplement stores) leading up to the weight loss thing at work. Also overdid it slightly at the gym yesterday on the hip abductor/adductor exercises, so the ol' hips/inner thighs are a mite tender today. Waiting on a small canister of creatine monohydrate to arrive in an attempt to kick-start my metabolism via something other than stimulants (Hydroxycut, Stacker, etc and their ilk are all heavily caffeine-infused, which is a minus in my book).

1x - generic multivitamin
2x - Saw Palmetto berries (for Little Man 'tate)
2x2 - Milk Thistle seed (liver health/cleansing)
2x2 - Psyllium husk (fiber)
2x2 - St. John's Wort (brains)
I've also intermittently used Dandelion Root 2x2, which is also a cleanser/liver benefit.

Ah. me + st. john's wort = bad!

Creatine Monohydrate isn't a metabolic booster per se, it's an aid for muscle development (which, indirectly, raises your base metabolic rate, because you've got more muscle mass burning calories when you're sitting on your ass, as well as making you stronger and whatnot). Given my relative plateau-ness in the results I've been seeing after nearly two years at the gym fairly regularly, it seemed like a sensible avenue to explore.
I've got nice things to say about the System Six line of products (they make a "general" flavor, as well as one tailored for men specifically, and there may be a women's variant too) for thermogenic metabolic enhancement ... the main catalyst there is green tea extract and xenedrol, among other things. I found it at Smoothie King, but I think you can probably lay hands on it at GNC or someplace similar.

Hrm... I might look that up...

Between the oatmeal and my penchant for snacking on carrots at the office, the psyllium is mostly for weekends when I'm less apt to graze well, or if I've got an upset stomach (take it in conjunction with a couple of ginger capsules) to absorb & migrate whatever might be giving me issues downstream, so to speak.

Saw Palmetto: Not bad.
Milk Thistle: Haven't seen enough material to formulate an opinion on it.
Psyllium Husk: Uh...there's better forms of fiber out there.
St John's Wort: Bad. And I mean that in a not good kind of way.
To elaborate on SJW, you're better off and safer to take Prozac, Paxil, Celexa (pharmacist's choice), Lexapro or any of the SSRI's (they're in the same family). It also inhibits the cytochrome p-450 metabolic pathway (that bascially screws up your metabolism, your liver and any other meds you might be on).
Umm...I'd also recommend a calcium supplment. You simply cannot have muscular contraction without a sufficient supply of Ca++. Given that you don't like cheese and choose to drink that soy crap, you should probably tack it on. Also goes doubly for ladies.

And, yes... i'll be making sure to get plenty of protein (the soy milk is 30% RDA per 8oz serving, so that's less of a concern).
(no subject)
I wasn't worried about protein...you're a meat eater. I was worried about calcium.

Picked up some Cranberry w/ Calcium to act as a delivery substrate; that should do the trick. :-)

Got any positions that do not involve Saturday hours? Might be worth a move to Eff El Ay...

Besides, I get a nice bonus if you survive 90 days...

Sounds so different from your usual conversational voice.

Have you ever tried something like http://www.prosource.net/cytodyne-aac/6430-1/44/ ? FWIW, When I was lifting regularly I saw good results with this stuff. It's not cheap at all but it really helped with recovery time from workouts and over all muscle gains. sigh...I really need to get rid of my damn pool table and set up my gym again.
