Swarmy, what were you saying last week about Iran not being able to use one, even if they had it?

Idiots.

"Look, we have a nuke-yoo-lar e-peen!"

That's great, KJI... there are a lot of folks who can and will turn you into stir-fried ashtray if you're dumb enough to try and use it.

I agree. This could be toxic if not handled correctly. Lately, the Bushites have been taking quite a beating on their war on terrorism. If one good spin doctor can use this to portray Bush as making the world even less safe with this, it dooms the republicans running in the midterms ... assuming votes still count. I wish these idiots would display the sources.

It is quite probable Bush won't get a chance to capitalize on it. The PRC has always been NK's big ally...and they ain't happy. The NK has always been their backyard. Kim is supposed to do what Hu Jintao wants. Kim is NOT doing what Hu Jintao wants. Not happy at all.

Correction: They are right pissed off. There is a big chance you might see Chinese tanks rolling in the direction of Pyongyang at some point. Maybe some 'military advisors'.

Ya know?

I would be *GLAD* if that occurred. If the PRC took control of the situation, and we could remain completely the hell out.

True. While we can deplore the PRC's human rights and 'democracy' all we want, they do a pretty damn good job of maintaining stability in a region known in the 20th century for being unstable. If SK was being belligerent and stupid, we would be expected [as their BMOC] to step on them. I think it would be a good test of PRC commitment to stability.

See, that's the whole thing -- Bush has already scored a victory by sitting back. The fact that NK had a successful test tells the rest of the world that he was right (even on one out of say three countries).

The rest of the world is already so horrified that NK did the test that the USA doesn't even need to be in the driver's seat on this one.

Simple fact is that if China is pissed off NK did it, then everyone else can be too and it can't be anything but good for everyone but NK.

This is China's issue moreso than ours, unless NK rolls into SK. China is all respectable now and they really don;t need this rabid little pit bull of a country screwing up their economy or international influence.

You can't use a nuke. Having a nuke means nothing unles you have LOTS of them. Hell, we should GIVE Iran a nuke, one of our old little ones, just to show them how little we care. And if they use it, we send them a few hundred more, but with the fuses lit.

I just recently watched a few "feasible nuclear holocaust projection" films on Sci-Fi channel (this past weekend, in fact), one ("The Day After") deals with the once potential powder keg issue between the Soviet block states and the west... West and East Berlin.

And now? Looking at South and North Korea, I am reminded of it. And, ya know? That scares the living hell outta me, as South and North Korea have a lot more self determination than did the two sides of Berlin. They could, very easily, start us in on a war with China... which is *not* winnable.
