3 Jan 06 - So, I cracked into the random book my folks shot me as something to unwrap from under the tree yesterday. "The Jester," by James Patterson and Andrew Gross. Don't, whatever you do, buy this book. It's awful.

1 Feb 06 - First, because not only are they unfounded optimists in the face of some depressing econimic truths, but because Americans are being arrested for exercising their First Amendment rights peacefully. [mainstream coverage of same is here.]

2 Mar 06 - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060302/ap_on_go_pr_wh/katrina_video Anyone still think the majority voted the right asshole into the White House?

2 Apr 06 - http://rockstarramblings.blogspot.com/2006/03/image-dogtoring-1-christians-crusades.html It's not Grok. It's better.

1 May 06 - http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002425363 [courtesy of [personal profile] cavalorn.] One of my colleagues' grandchildren is in the office. I think he's in the 2-3 year old range. And I forgot my headphones.

1 Oct 06 - [First paragraph of the Declaration of Independence] Every incumbent who voted for this [pro-torture] legislation, every bureaucrat and politician who advocated or allowed it, and every military man who endorsed it, should be removed from office, bodily and by use of force if necessary, and subjected to the treatment they have thus authorized, during which time, it will be repealed, and all such persons mentioned above will be barred from public office unto the end of their days.

1 Nov 06 - ETA: [profile] xn's comments here, and [profile] gruamach's own, right here, because they're veterans who have some interesting things to say on the subject. Kerry's actual "joke": "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."

1 Dec 06 - There's been some bemused angst wafted around lately at the discovery that Billy Idol has a holiday album out there. While trying to find something I learned about on NPR's Morning Edition this morning (music composed for, and performed on, bicycle parts), my eyes were opened to the existence of a Twisted Sister Christmas CD.
