The verdict: Feline acne. Loki had a milder case (but had tapeworms, so he got treated for that, too); Lamia's had been scratched open and abscessed (note: slightly gross description follows). Despite opening it up and draining it herself on Thursday, the vet lanced it and, from K's description, the better part of a tablespoon of blood and ECF was released; when the vet himself is surprised, that's not a good sign. He also was taken aback at how antagonistic she is to the idea of taking pills, so we've got liquid medicine to give them (except for Loki's tapeworm follow-up, which is a one-shot deal with two pills).
However, that done, both of them got an antibiotic (and Lamia also got a cortizone shot to quell the itching that caused the overgrooming). We get to be purveyors of doom and annoyance in the form of a milliliter of banana-flavored antibiotic yuck twice a day for a while. Immediate returns are good - Lamia's been much more social (she'd been hunkered down in discomfort all week). Our littlest girl, Willow (Will o' Wisp), seems to be going through a growth spurt, and is all youthful exuberance, gangly and spastic... kind of like

Yesterday was a long day of driving sandwitched around a pleasant couple of hours with K's brother's family (his wife, The Neice, and the in-laws). My back's annoyed.

My office is mid-demolition (pictures of the denuded desk and the huge pile of crap that had previously buried it have been taken). Holy crap. Like... dude.
mighty_man's old basement type levels of crap accumulation. It did, however, fall well short of House In Arlington levels of kipple encumbrance. Thank god.

Before I do any gaming today, a run to Target for a storage armoire, and to Best Buy for the DVI or VGA adapter for my 360 (at my buddy Jeeves' recommendation), and an honest attempt to hang some ideas together for NI90.

How about those league-leading Buffalo Sabres, eh? That's what I'm talkin' about.

Sabres: Not only are they leading the league in points, but in wins, goals for and best road record.
Xbox 360: You didn't have a DVI connection for it yet? For shame! The bad news: xbox 360 v2 is going to have HDMI and a much larger HDD. http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=5591

By my reckoning, then, I don't need to make the change. I've got the HDTV component output (Yppbpbpbltlttttt or whatever it is); that's the only one that supports 1080p from what I can see.
Lessee... two and a half years, looks like about twenty-five pounds of desk kipple. Call it ten pounds a year, maybe a pound a month at the outside. Very little of it is actual disposable crap - it's just stuff that failed to get put away or otherwise filed appropriately (lots and lots of CD media, a small pile of pens and hand tools, a moderate nest of cables of varying descriptions).

On the kitty bowls, yeah, I did a little research after your initial post. Bacteria can grow in the plastic. If you ever need to use plastic for whatever reason, I bet putting it through the dishwasher on a regular basis will help to control it. I've been using some of those spongy 'paper' plates of late. I have no idea where they came from, but they're pretty useless since they just melt in the microwave (what I use paper plates for most). So, they're kitty dishes until I use them up. I toss 'em after a week or two.
