What American accent do you have?
Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

Northern. Whether you have the world famous Inland North accent of the Great Lakes area, or the radio-friendly sound of upstate NY and western New England, your accent is what used to set the standard for American English pronunciation (not much anymore now that the Inland North sounds like it does).

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

... considering that the place I spent the first ~30 years of my life is actually depicted on that map by name.

It told me I was from New York City. It's only a few thousand miles out ;-)

Well, I spent longer than rafe did in Buffalo and I still came out with a regional dialect slightly farther south. Maybe it's because I went to school farther south than he did for awhile?

I'm not sure; look at all the time I spent in places with a fairly acute dialect (rural pennsylvania sounds a lot like WV; New Orleans has an accent unto itself).

At least through school, I was farther south in Pittsburgh. But after we started working, I'd say that you might have picked up more from being in DC than in New Orleans.

I got the same thing, although I do actually think I have a slight trace of the Jersey accent. Not all the time, just on certain words and in certain states of inebriation.
