Man, I could have followed links from that one all day long. Digby's rant was delightful. When will these morons learn that if you're really interested in what "the people" say, they shouldn't be heading out to the most sparsely populated areas to talk to people. Go to California or Texas or New York or Florida. Most of the US population is urban/suburban. Heading into the countryside is just stupid if you're looking for 'average Joe'. He moved to the city a long time ago.

The majority of the population hasn't lived in rural areas since before WWII!!!! A quick glance at the census data shows that 80% of the population lives in metropolitan areas (granted, some of those are smaller than one might think, but not nearly the wide spots in the road they often show us).
