Yeah, except it was too loaded down with "we suck" and ducked a lot of the "why we got into bed with known racist fundies" and isn't answering a lot of the questions. Like, any.

LJ- still not getting any more of my money.

And eww to the posted link above. This stuff makes me physically ill. I feel a rant a-brewing about how these clueless racist idiots pervert my faith into something twisted and evil and perpetrate the stereotype that all Christians are complete xenophobic homophobic sexist repressed whackjobs. People like them give people like me a lot of work to do to prove that all of us shouldn't be painted with that brush. *shudders*

I spent a good portion of yesterday yammering about this on [livejournal.com profile] fandom_lawyers, which was abuzz, as you might imagine.

At the end of the day, not sure how I feel about LJs endgame. They fsked up by not actually doing a content review of the suspended sites which would follow their own TOS. But I'm not sure that they didn't have some interest, or even obligation, to at least investigate allegations of permitting communities that actively promote pedophilia.

WFI = Scary scary whackjobs
LJ = Morons

If LJ had done this the right way, though, instead of being lazy about it, they would be applauded for "doing the right thing". The irony.

when there's a fuckup, some measure of "mea culpa" is generally appropriate.

having come to this party late, and having now done some research, i agree with you that lj/6a's handling of the situation was far from optimal, but at least seems to be moving in the right direction.

I'm now wondering if something like this wasn't behind the deletion of all those Y!Groups a few weeks ago that [livejournal.com profile] the_siobhan was griping about.
