Does anyone have an unused Socket A motherboard with an AGP slot on it I could buy, cheap?

Kim's machine shit the bed when I was updating the video drivers, and essentially puked up the AGP slot, so it's DOA.

thanks, man, but it turns out that won't be necessary.

as a stopgap, i picked up a relatively inexpensive cpu & motherboard combo from tigerdirect.

it only needs to limp along until the end of the year, when wholesale system upgrades are in the works.

by what laws of physics were you able to brick a mobo by updating drivers? I'm really curious.

As near as I can tell, what happened was that while I was updating the ATI drivers on the machine (due to the cascading clusterfuckery that was the last update to World of Warcraft - it went from not working to saying "you don't have a 3d accelerator installed"), it locked up hard, and when it rebooted, the BIOS load screen was half-garbled. Subsequent attempts to boot resulted in no POST error codes, but also no VGA signal being sent to the monitor.

Pulled the card, put it in my machine - works fine. Put my video card in hers - no signal.

The upside, if there can be said to be one, is that this failure, in conjunction with the impending arrival of a much-needed new hard drive (courtesy of mighty_man) means that it'll be fresh install time, rather than trying to coerce winxp to boot and update its driver set to handle a completely different chipset driver (also, going from an athlon xp 2500+ to an athlon 64 3000+ is a palliative side effect from the overwhelming annoyance).
