[livejournal.com profile] etcet: people are stupid. hopefully, that will start/resume being fatal.
[livejournal.com profile] ginnyland: that would be good
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: population control, the darwin way
[livejournal.com profile] ginnyland: there needs to be some sort of world wide population control. its gotten out of hand.
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: i think that, very soon, we'll see a lot of pandemic, wholesale death. probably within the next 25 years. mark your calendar.
[livejournal.com profile] ginnyland: O.o you wanna know something creepy?
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: hm?
[livejournal.com profile] ginnyland: i think the same thing. within the next 100 years, the world will be a completly different place. my dad thinks people will still exist, i don't. pandemics will take out a lot of people. or mass hysteria due to gas shortage or whatever will make ppl stupid and take care of ending some over-crowdedness.

Africa will go (is going?) first. The Four Horsemen are literally running wild over there, and it'll get worse as resources dwindle. The poor will get poorer and places like Bangladesh (are they still calling it that?) and the poorer areas of China/India and the rest of that part of the world will go next, then perhaps South America (although it is still fairly resource rich.) The Have's will have to fend off riots of the Have-Nots and they'll only win through superior firepower.

We Americans will get it last, most likely. We (in my area, anyway) sit on 20% of the world's fresh water supply so that'll last a good long time. People will start packing heat to go grocery shopping, and when the supermarkets dry up they'll go "shopping" at the neighbor's house.

I just hope it holds off long enough that my son can learn geometry and how to french a girl in the back seat of a car (the important stuff every teenager needs to know) rather than how to murder his neighbors for a can of creamed corn. Some days I am very sad I brought him into this world.

Doom? Yes, please.

Caveat: so long as the few folks such as yourself who suck in ways I enjoy don't go down in disease, famine and flames with the ~ 6 billion who suck in ways that suck ;)
