Honestly, with his pro-life anti-woman stance, it seems he would have been a better VP choice for McCain than bitchy-face. He would have gotten more of the internet nerd vote that way.

Also, he's arguably competent to serve in the role, as opposed to Caribou Barbie, who is less qualified than *I* am.

As an economic policy advisor, RP is a hell of a lot less frustrating than he is on social issues.

I mean, even though he's prolife, he'd have been a better choice for VP, I have to assume that because we're talking about the repooplican party that they will be what I consider to be "anti-woman" anyway, Ron Paul may be considered to be a nutjob by some, but at least he's given proof that he thinks about stuff, unlike Alaska Mommykins

Problem is, where he is right about things like the economy, he's very much wrong on so many other issues (see women above), that I cannot ever, in good conscience, vote for him. Make him someone in the cabinet dealing with the economy, sure. I'll stand up and cheer for it. But he's not the kind of person I want in charge of it all.

While I may be able to be convinced that some of today's problems would have been impossible with a currency on the gold standard, I have a lot of doubts that a) returning to the gold standard would FIX existing problems, even the ones that would have been prevented, and b) that it's remotely feasable to effect a gold standard without destroying whatever remains of the undestroyed economy (worldwide) in the process.
