Somewhere in this house is a copy of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, but I'll be fucked if I can find it among all the crap in my office. 800x600, non-windowed, on a wide-aspect monitor that displays 1920x1440 natively looks like ass. LoD means I can at least jack it to 1024x768.

I expect more fallout from the bullshit at Kim's zoo (link goes to the list o' links I posted yesterday), including a lot of curious questions about it from my coworkers today.

Her company holiday shindig is tomorrow night. THAT should be interesting (understatement).

We both think that our new glasses had the anti-glare coating omitted by VisionWorks when we got them two weeks ago, so we're taking them back tonight to get that checked on.

Shortcut target: "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w

You lose the primative 3-d effects and some gamma control, but it DOES mean that the panel isn't as bad off as one would think.

LOD does 1024? How?

Apparently, it has a graphics option toggle to change the resolution to 1024; if I can find my disk and install it, I can confirm.

Negative. Max res is 800x600 with LOD.
Also, I tried the -w flag and vista wouldn't recognize it.

Sorry, mang. Had the same QQfest myself. When we heard about D3 coming, we both grabbed out D2 disks and started loading. 800x600 is just too small for my 1920x1200 screen. Just not playable. Dear Blizzard, please fix, kthnksby.

Not really a matter of fixing...because it's sprite based and the stuff doesn't scale, they'd have to literally draw new stuff at resolution. That was half the justification of the cost for LoD (and they couldn't release say a 30 meg patch on CD with nothing else on it and charge $30).

You could always whip out the dual monitor configuration with the smaller monitor being #1.

No room on my desk for some reason.... ;-)

You know, I had my copy of Diablo II in my hand the other day and I REALLY wanted to play it again. I miss it. My friends don't play anymore and the people who do play online are generally a real pain in my ass. One time a kid told me to watch him while he want to have dinner. I was so furious that I didn't turn the game on again. I need an age filter.

I will not play with people I don't know.

Full stop.

I only installed it for a change of pace from the RTS stuff [livejournal.com profile] mighty_man and I usually do; it's refreshingly simplistic.

I'll play with people I don't know, depending on how bad I need help with a particular quest or how quickly I want to rack up xp.

After I had done all the quests in Act V except killing Baal (which I knew I couldn't do solo and couldn't complete in most games I joined), I joined a few 8 player games to run Act V, just for xp. I finally found one that I was able to join early enough that killing Baal counted for me. I also happened to have a lvl 80+ character wipe out baal, just as I was coming down the stairs. Made things easy.

Have you guys ever had the anti-glare crap before? This is my second experience with it and I'm not impressed.

I had it on my old pair, and there were just dandy. these new ones? i get glare from light behind me, ffs.

That's the issue that I've been fighting since my last pair of them. The anti-glare on this set seems to have worn off to a comfortable level.
