My usual boatload of cynicism seems to be missing today. Perhaps it drifted down the Potomac for a few hours.

I'm sure it'll show up again tomorrow.

Your unused cynicism is more than welcome to come on over to my house for the day. I have nachos and vitriol.

Uncharacteristically, I have hope. I'm not sure what to bring as a dip.

I'm sure it'll show up again tomorrow.

With a vengeance, perhaps. Enjoy your peace today while you can.

Maybe this'll help. One of my favorite quotes that I've used with clients for years: Hope is NOT a course of action.

One of my biggest peeves with Obama are his reliance on hope and belief. I prefer plans and knowledge, thankyouverymuch. I believe in the tooth fairy. I know my mom stuck a quarter under my pillow.

True, true.

I think that, fundamentally, a lot of folks were so unhappy with what GWB was doing, and the way he was doing (or not doing) it, that they collectively said "Fuck it, I'll wait for the next guy, and then I'll try harder." Having the perceived atmosphere being something more aligned with a framework within which we can achieve something, whether or not that's actually true (see also: placebo effect) might be all the incentive some folks need to start taking action (or more action).

Maybe that's just me projecting, though.

Hey, even cynicism needs a day off once in a while. Or are you one of those slave-drivers that demands that it never take vacation?

I'm calling the EEOC, the FDA, the EPA, and a few other acronyms.

I'd prefer to call the AFK, NSFW, and BYOB.
