So, in the good news bit, my slow trudge towards legitimacy in the eyes of the media lurches forward with the receipt of a huge black box from Alienware; a review of a machine I'll find very, very hard to send back will be forthcoming at BDL.
In the less good news bit, my three-year old work PC finally told me where to go stick it this morning, after getting increasingly flaky over the last couple of months, and has been summarily replaced with something approximately twenty times faster (this is not an exaggeration -- I've upgraded from a second-gen P4 @ 2.53GHz with 768MB of PC3200 to a dual C2D 2.83GHz rig with a gig of DDR2). The usual litany of software installs will continue untilmorale improves I've finished forgetting stuff that was previously overlooked.
