Job Description
This entry-level position is responsible for managing day-to-day coordination of Progress Energy Florida (PEF) communications activities.
Responsibilities:
---Provide communications support for Corporate Communications Department (CCD)-FL specific projects, including researching and preparing communication plans, speeches, presentations, reports, task assignments, talking points, Q&A, etc. Work closely with each CCD-FL staff member to support and execute internal and external communication strategies.
---Serve as primary support for department's 24x7 media line. Assure media line is covered during business hours and rolled to and from paging service daily; work with media relations lead and media team to ensure incoming calls are recorded and assigned to appropriate media staff. Serve as media spokesperson on generic, low-risk media topics. Provide daily media recap report to CCD. Serve on on-call media rotation. Serve as blog monitor.
---Develop internal communications to support external communications strategy for CCD-FL and Florida Power Operations Group (POG), including stories for internal publications as well as talking points and other communication tools. Monitor PEF web content and recommend appropriate corrections and updates.
---Act as department liaison and develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal clients based on understanding their business, their goals, their customers and their issues. Maintain open lines of communication and manage and share information across department. Work across department to coordinate content review processes designed to manage quality control to eliminate typographical and grammar errors.
---Assist Director in managing CCD-FL's budget including processing invoices, reconciling and maintaining budget reports. Analyze data trends on own initiative and advise director of significant changes or discrepancies.
---Gather input and produce weekly department report and other department-wide reports as needed. Maintain archives of company and competitive
materials, including legally required nuclear library communications.
Requirements:
Experience in developing effective communication strategies.
Media relations background preferred.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.
Excellent writer and editor with keen attention to detail.
Possesses sense of urgency.
Capable of building, developing and maintaining strong relationships.
Demonstrated expertise in working with timelines, budgets and project management.
Qualifications
Entry level position requiring a Bachelor's degree. Four years of like-work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree, or combination of education and like-work experience totaling no more than 5 years.
