The first of the two remaining C14 credit cards has finally been paid off.

Yes, it came out of my pocket.

Citibank, you could have continued to accrue small amounts of interest for several months, had you not been inflexible cockbaskets and jacked the rate up threefold when the last payment was two days after the cutoff.

Chase, your pound of flesh is coming.

Citi and Chase can mutually rot in hell, as far as I am concerned. I would choose not to do business with either, and Citi has been dumped already. You need federal bailout money but you still can drop millions for naming rights for New Shea Stadium? Bite me. That account was closed after those shenanigans.

However, we're stuck with Chase because NYS Unemployment cleverly uses them as a vendor, which means if you don't have a Chase account, you must pay them ATM fees in order to access the dole. *sigh*. They're getting curbstomped once P is employed once more.

I can't say much though. I have evil BOA as my banking provider. I have tried so many, many times to escape them. They bought the bank that held my teenaged bank account, and literally EVERY subsequent bank I opened an account with. They were also one of my clients back in the ad agency days. *facepalm* I will never escape.

On the bright side of that, because I've been fleeing from them for 20+ years, I get a "platinum" bank card and customer service that seems to speak English as a reward for my "loyalty".

it's funny how that works. *sigh* the only long-standing card i've got is discover, which i signed up for during college. ostensibly, i might still have an AmEx account, but no actual piece of plastic.

Everyone who came bought and paid for their ticket, and their hotel room, and, basically, all the vacation stuff that it entails. We just didn't have enough folks come to cover the costs (estimated there'd be X folks, we got 2/3 of X); my initial budget estimates were astonishingly close to actual expenses, especially considering that I'd never done anything approaching this scale or complexity before.

I know some people don't like to do such things, but have you considered putting up one of those little PayPal buttons in [livejournal.com profile] gothconvergence, [livejournal.com profile] convergence & and maybe a quick post in alt.gothic? Surely that would help at least a little to put a dent in what's owed?

I'm one of the people who don't like to do such things. *rueful chuckle*

I was unable to attend C14, but as a longtime Convergence attendee I will be sending you the amount of the laminate I would have purchased. I suggest others do the same!
