So, in addition to the card that got paid off by my tax return this week, I just told the folks who issued me one as a HELOC VISA to go stick it; I ain't paying $50 a year for a card I never use, and, no, thank you, I don't want to keep the card at all, even without the fee. I felt like I was getting jobbed despite being very nice when I called, too -- cheerfully gave them account info, said, "I'd like to cancel the card, please," and was promptly dumped on hold for eight minutes before talking to someone else, who, at least, was able to do it and didn't get annoyingly up my nose in order to retain my business. "Look at my account history. I've never used this card. I don't expect to start now. Just close it for me."

In the wake of last night's workout, today.... uh, yeah, not so much with the upper body mobility. One pull-up, barely, followed by a fair bit of twitching and shaking and general ow-ness.

Shed build is complete, just need to put the storm tie-down augers in and run the cable, and then figure out shelving options to actually see about storing shit there.

Burned the set CD for my mini-set at [livejournal.com profile] pixirae's wedding reception -- 40 minutes of stuff:
  1. Greensleeves (Electric Guitar Version)
  2. Voltaire - If I Only Were A Goth
  3. Aggro 1 - Spin Me Harder (Daft Punk v. Dead or Alive)
  4. Messiah - Temple of Dreams
  5. Tom Lehrer - Masochism Tango
  6. Ausoween (NMBC v. Pop Will Eat Itself)
  7. Apoptygma Bezerk - Kathy's Song (Beborn Benton Mix)
  8. And One - Panzermensch
  9. O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei (Yes, it's the Numa Numa song)

I've found it curious that Texas prohibits HELOC credit cards. Perhaps things like that fee are why. Then again, it's only in the last few years that Texas has allowed any home equity loans at all. I paid off the balance on my check-based HELOC last month, so I'm back down to the mortgage being my only official outstanding debt, and I'm rebuilding the Europe cash fund that was raided before I resorted to the HELOC when doing all those repairs last year.

I didn't have a problem with the card, or its mechanics, per se, my beef is with the annual fee. I take issue with paying someone money for the privilege of helping them make more money off me. As I said to the Wells Fargo dude: "That fee is exactly the same reason I canceled my AmEx account, too."

So, that brings the number remaining to two - my primary personal card, and the one C14 card with a balance left on it. Did feel good to cross those off the list, though.

Did Voltaire cover If I Only Were A Goth, or is that the ThouShaltNot version mislabelled?

I keep getting conflicting reports as to who that actually is; I initially thought it was TSN, then got the mp3, which had V's name on it, so at this point, I have no damn idea.

It's ThouShaltNot. Though the singer, at times, does almost sound like Voltaire here.

A soak in a hot bath with some epsom salts has done quite a bit to loosen things up in that regard.

Now, say that line in Dolph Lundgren's badly-faked Russian accent. ;-)
