Yanno, I don't give a fuck about Teddy Kennedy. Maybe this makes me a bad liberal, or something. I've paid more or less no attention to the man beyond being kind of dimly aware of the drunk-driving accident way the fuck back.

That said, I hadn't known most of this crap.

[livejournal.com profile] ilcylic, I'll do you one better. Don't just stop with the Senate; get the House on board that initiative.

I like the way all his points have linked sources.

RP does his thing well.

Works for me. The reason I didn't include them is because I can think of a few who I would piss on if they were on fire, there. No senators fit that bill, though.

And one of the last things he did was ask that the election for his replacement be expedited, because he knew how long the process normally takes. I'm wondering if he knew better than most how bad his condition was. Regardless of what people thing of his personal politics, I believe he truly meant to do right. Not just by those who elected him, but by as many people as he could in his lifetime.

One of the last things he did was ask the MA legislature to return to Democrat Governor Deval Patrick the power they'd taken away from the Republican Governor Mitt Romney when John Kerry might become president; that of allowing the governor to appoint a replacement, so there didn't have to be an election. It's partisan politics to a T.

So one of his last requests was to return the process to the way it was originally done after being changed as a result of partisan politics?

And not only the way it's done in Mass, but the way it's done in many states?

No, one of his last requests was to return the process to the way it was originally done after being changed at his behest.

Given that he's being touted as a champion of the democratic process, I'm afraid that "he just wanted to have it returned to the old way" -- i.e.: aristocratic appointment -- doesn't do a lot to sway my opinion of the move.

Don't complain. Teddy Kennedy's death got Michael Jackson's death off of TV. Count your blessings.

Michael Jackson died? Damn I need to start paying attention.
