[livejournal.com profile] etcet: I'm going to see about going caffeine-free for the next month in an effort to stave off further headaches.
[livejournal.com profile] critus: INSANITY
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: Spartaaaaaaa
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: No, wait, that's madness.
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: Insanity is confused with... Athens? Crete?
[livejournal.com profile] critus: This is... mildly annoying
[livejournal.com profile] critus: This! is! CREEEEEETE!

I feel I should warn you that you may find yourself having MORE headaches for a while until your body adjusts!

Both madness and insanity, obviously.

The weekend after I quit drinking coffee I was the bitchiest motherfucker that ever motherfucked a bitch.

I drink about three cups a week; I'm hoping that is insufficient to engender much of a withdrawal response.

also, how the fuck is anyone going to notice if i'm bitchier?

once you quit, never go back if you can help it. I have gone mostly caffeine free for the past year and don't regret it at all. I only drink iced tea every once in a while and have pretty much given up soda except 7-up every once in a blue moon. I order decaf at starbucks and they look at you funny but who cares?

This is why I did it - i have had only 1 migraine since then, and my bp did go down some and the small irritating headaches stopped too.

I only drank a soda a day with an occasional coffee when i quit. If you drink more than that, wean yourself off over at least a weeks time or the headaches are unbearable. don't kid yourself, you will go through withdrawl..

good luck!

oh yeah! there is caffeine lurking in places you don't expect it too..

chocolate, energy drinks, tea, soda, some medicines, etc. The true Blood beverage I bought had it in it, and it's blood orange.

it's kinda scary how much caffeine is really out there.

more to the point - if you ARE bitchier, who is going to live?

Body count is higher? ;)

Oh, I have quite the habit these days... but I do realize it and consider caffeine to be my recreational drug of choice...

I don't think you want to be a Cretan.

To put my experiences into context, I had a trainer for a bit a few years ago. When we got to the part of formulating the diet plan where we discussed my caffeine intake, he visibly blanched. So, with that disclaimed, I've found that less caffeine has made for faaar fewer headaches, though switching back and forth between cold turkey and normal levels of intake I get easily 3 times as many. Good luck, hope your mileage is similar and I *highly* recommend sticking to one way or the other instead of falling on and off the wagon.

Crete is an island, not a Greek city-state. Sorry for the pendanticism.

What goes with insanity?

Delium? It's as close as you can get to "delirium." Nah, you can't yell "Delium" to scare people. How about "OLYMPIAAAAA?"

*ahem* Just trying to help.

Here's hoping that it works out for you. Athens, birthplace of democracy! (For, uh, rich Greek older guys who had land.) I am now digging through my Classics brain to try to determine where insanity lies. One of those vaporous oracles, maybe?
