[livejournal.com profile] thewronghands: Oh no the font police. [grin] I just got a mail from work explaining that we all had to use a different font for all emails.
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: wait... what? different from one another, or different from what you had been using?
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: I use Calibri, but i'm a dick.
[livejournal.com profile] thewronghands: Different from Outlook's default.
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: ... which is ARIAL
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: seriously?
[livejournal.com profile] thewronghands: Calibri is what mine is currently set to, apparently.
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: "fuck you people, i'm using comic sans"
[livejournal.com profile] thewronghands: Don't know what that says about me. [giggling]
[livejournal.com profile] thewronghands: Oh, I hate Comic Sans.
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: exactly
[livejournal.com profile] thewronghands: It looks childish.
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: tahoma?
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: OHHHHH, TAHOMA, WHERE THE FONT SAN-SERIF'S DOWN THE SCREEN....
[livejournal.com profile] thewronghands: [laughs]
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: sorry for the hideous apostrophe
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: when arial's beat, it sure looks neat, it is both peachy and keeeeeen....
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: [alt: ... it's readable and cleeeaaaaannnnn....]

I actually like it, but not for daily correspondence.

Hell, back in the day [tm], I did all my mail and news reading/posting in light grey text on a black background... in Nosferatu.

The sad thing about Papyrus is that it is a good font, but it's over-used and used really inappropriately. Hell, we have a Catholic Church here that uses Papyrus for the font on it's sign. Blame AriZona for ruining Papyrus.

I'd like to nominate Scriptina (http://www.dafont.com/scriptina.font) as the next great font that's going to be ruined by wildly inappropriate overuse.

Thankfully, nobody asks me to design wedding invitations, so I'm unlikely ever to use that.

If it were only wedding invitations, it'd be okay. I saw it in an ad for a casino not too long ago. It's also appearing at a near-exponential rate on wine bottle labels.
