Isidore is a sissy.
Right now, my biggest worry is losing power in the middle of composing an email. Or running out of beer.
Yes, it's raining.
Yes, it's breezy.
I just "braved the elements" (Hah!) to check out the status of the water level in the Intracoastal Waterway against the levee behind our apartments. We've got about ten feet of headroom, and it'd take a very particular storm track to shove water up it, and none of the forecasts are calling for a storm surge much in excess of 3-6 feet, so the only flood concerns I have are from the rain itself.
Said rain is of the light (oscillating sprinkler) to just-above moderate (hose with spray nozzle) variety. It's actually stopped a few times. Winds are gusty and 20-30mph. All in all, not a day to take the family golfing (unless you're the Vicar and Carl from Caddyshack), but nothing to get all worked up about and flock to Wal-Mart and buy up every flashlight they've got.
Thus far, the casualty list is: two insect bites, left ankle, acquired while performing the aforementioned levee reconnaissance; one fifth of Southern Comfort; two lemon-pepper marinated chicken breasts; and two brief power outages last night, totallying approximately ten minutes.
So, in case anyone was concerned - I'm fine, the cats are fine, Kim is fine (albeit spending tonight at her facility in a bunker, so that there will be 2 keepers on hand to take care of the animals) - they're also bringing in some of the high muckalucks to make sure everyone and everything is taken care of adequately - they even have a couple of boats in case things get excessively weird out that way.
No, it's not worse than your average rainy day. As a matter of fact, it's better - not only is it warm and rainy and windy out (a fun combination, especially to play football in), it got me the day off. Neener, neener, neener. I'm hoping for tomorrow and Friday, too, but suspect that Friday, at least, will find me back at the office.
