So, yesterday happened. I managed to piss off a trio of jackasses who tried to wander in without paying [no, sorry, shithead, that's $350 if you want the brain work, gents. Go ahead and get pissy, you're not getting a fucking binder.

Initial estimates were for 250-350 people. I think we had 42 paid attendees. Or more. Or less. I'm still trying to un-fuck the financials.

But regardless, we ended up forking out about $110 a head to the hotel, and not the $50 originally anticipated (see previous post for that clusterfuck). This has, how you say, not made happy places prevalent.

But, as far as my participation yesterday, it was pretty much riding herd on a bunch of middle-aged or older guys and one surprisingly young and attractive woman. "Okay, folks, break's over, they're looking to get started again, c'mon back in." Beyond that, it was delightfully stress-free - I read a book and sat in a corner, occasionally playing Hearts on the backup laptop once Jeeves & I figured out how to record audio on his (sounds like ass, but the boss got a kick out of it). Still, a ten hour day is a ten hour day, and it felt damn good to come home and flop.

Got a spur-of-the-moment phonecall from a friend who was worried - thanks, H.
Got to do some pseudo-1337 clue-hunting for AS, so that felt productive.
Drank the last of the not-great beer. Mmmm. buzzy. Chatted with various folks I hadn't seen around in a bit, which was nice - I'm looking forward to having a social life again. Got an encouraging email from someone as far as potentially novel employment [aside to [livejournal.com profile] masque__: there anything happening in a good way in Seattle's job market? No, seriously.]

When even the spastic acquaintences come out and say, "Dude you looked like you were going to fall over when we went out for sushi the other night," it's clearly time to think about alternatives.

Had some iffy crawfish, and then was up from 3am on with hot flashes, which put the kibosh on extended snuggling with K, but some was still done, and was darn nifty.

Tonight: I am going to be lazy. Maybe I'll float in the pool. Maybe I'll sink. But I'm going to get this damn job out of my head for a while.

I'm sick of being a one-note bitch around here.

I so wish I could spend today in the pool. We're having another 'build an ark' kind of week. Rain. Rain. Rain.

Frell.

Thanks for the 1337 work last night.

Amen, brutha! Needs to get you and your lady some good times to remember for a change. Maybe come on down and visit the Castle? Show you around, let you meet Peter, get some serious SoCo and Pepsi action going on? Put some miles on your new ride, house you at Chez Axis in your own room...

You're 2.2 miles from the Castle. It's a sign from God.

Fly back Sunday afternoon, and I can guarantee you two nights of excellent clubbing and a visit to the Dali museum. The 5th will be our Coffin Classics night which is arguably old school, but one of the better Fridays in the month. Cover is $4. Catch a cab, don't worry about parking. Doors at 10pm until 2:30am.

possibility now exists, as a cost-cutting measure, for me to not make the journey.

updates as events warrant.

*Nods* Let me know -- regardless, I was looking at sept., not August. Monday night is a brilliant 80's night at the Castle, and I'd come over at that point.

So is the pissing off of people a good thing or a bad thing - or just something you had planned for? :D

unexpected, but enjoyable in a "fuck you, you self-righteous dipshit, get out of my conference if you're gonna be a cheap prick" kind of way.

so.. it only takes me a week or so to get through lj.. and I have bad news. There are no jobs here as far as I can tell. I know people who have been out of work for almost 2 years. Mostly, people are leaving Seattle... not moving here. :(
