I picked up a $7 bottle of headlight polish by the folks who make Rain-X (this was during the fiasco with K's car battery a few weeks ago), and can say that the shit works as advertized.

Five minutes with a rag and some elbow grease turned semi-opaque, yellowing cataracts into surprisingly clear (if not quite "like new") headlight covers. This bottle (6 oz?) is probably going to last damn near the rest of my life.

If you feel like experimenting, the Novus line is fantastic. It's what I use for getting scratches and fogging out of plastic pinball parts.

Five years hence, when I notice how foggy my headlights have once again become... neither of us will remember this conversation. :-)

I scuff my stuff up by bashing it with 1 1/16" steel bearings. I got spares...

I wonder how this would work on my whole car? The clear coat completely oxidized a number of years ago....

Novus 2, followed by Novus 1 does the job on clearcoated pinball playfields. (I only got one axe, so I gotta grind it when I can...)
