May have broken my fucking hand. Off to "urgent care." Bringing a book. This is not how I wanted to spend my afternoon.

ETA: How - drill bit caught in wood and locked, drill spun before I could let go, and something went "pop" in the metacarpal region of the pinkie/ring finger side of my hand. Minimal swelling, more or less full ROM, but it hurts, and I can feel something shift around when I open/close/squeeze.

Hoping it's a splint fix, not a cast. Of course, it's my right hand - you know, the one I use to write, mouse, and shift. *argh*

I guess I'll have to do nothing but cardio again if I get my paw bound up.

Good luck with it. Here's hoping you encounter competent medical staff.

Perhaps you shouldn't be typing until everything's healed. Just sayin'.

Sorry to hear about another injury of any kind. May this one be a quick heal and back to business as normal. The year I'm having I sympathize.

You know, I am suddenly SO happy about the adjustable slip thing on my cordless hand-drill. Set it to an arbitrary number (I have no idea what unit they're supposed to be in, so "number") between 1 and 20-or-so and the lower the number, the less force is needed to make the chuck slip (internally).

I've mostly used it (at a suitably low setting) when using it as a screwdriver, but since I seldom forget to dial it back up, it tends to hover somewhere in the 2-3 region.

advanced form of skiier's thumb? ie: dislocate?

possible a tear...

a break should be shrieking if there's loose bits, i'd think...

nothing wrong with cardio :)

mom told me "keep drinking milk and take your vitamin d."

so i'll probably up things to half a gallon or so; i already supplement with about 20,000iu of D as a matter of course.

i'm sure some dark leafy greens wouldn't hurt either... i seem to recall there's something that helps with calcium uptake...

and possibly soft-tissue helpers as well? Glucosamine and Chondroitin. can't hurt, eh?

mmm, icecream?

That really sucks and I'm sorry to hear about your accident. Hope the healing isn't too painful and things progress quickly. As far as strength training - why don't you use rubber band/cables? Some of them have the handles that could slip down past your forearm, meaning there wouldn't be any stress or pressure on your hand.
