08 - a song that you know all the words to

Pedant moment: "A song to which you know all the words."

Anyone who knows me knows that I can sing along to a terrifying array of songs. Thankfully, almost none of this has been captured on video. The pinnacle (or perhaps nadir) of this was on the first Goth Cruise I went on, when the karaoke book included something unfortunate, and I promptly went on stage and didn't look at the teleprompter once.

Nobody has ever accused me of having shame. Or taste.

09 - a song that you can dance to

(repeat of linguistic pedantry from above goes [here])

I'm going to go off on a second tangential rant here for a second:

Any song that includes directions for how to dance to it can go fuck off and die in a tire fire. This includes line dancing, club music, and all the shit they play at weddings. The Electric goddamned Slide, that "to the left" thing, whatever. House of Pain's "Jump Around" only escapes this ignominious fate by being so vague as to disqualify itself. Furthermore, any song that involves spelling can go fuck off right along with 'em (yes, Aretha, I'm talking to you, too).

Now that that's out of the way, much like stuff I can sing along to, I can dance to pretty much anything I enjoy, where "dancing" approximates inept martial arts or padded-weapons combat, headbanging, shiny quarter admiration, and Riverdance all mashed together. I can also do a very, very basic Waltz, which I taught a very cute, very drunk friend to do to "Nothing Else Matters" during a semi-formal at college.

10 - a song that makes you fall asleep

Cosmos (yes, the TV program). Between the Vangelis wafting around and Carl Sagan's soothing voice, if I'm remotely horizontal, this is almost guaranteed to induce a nap.
