Comment and I'll give you a color that I think represents you, and then you list ten things you like in that color.

[livejournal.com profile] sskipstress gave me turquoise. I'm not sure what I've done to represent that in her mind, actually...

1. The ocean at the beaches of Aruba. Sure, it's cliche and obvious, but it's also very nice, and is the current destination du jour for family vacations.

2. San Jose Sharks' jerseys; because it's almost hockey season. That sound you just heard was [livejournal.com profile] trystbat squeeing without knowing why.

3. The lid of my preferred shaker bottle. It works better than the other four I've got, and is more comfortable to hold.

4. The shortcut I've assigned to ClickSaver; it's saving a ton of time in Anarchy Online when trying to locate hard-to-find mission reward items.

5. Lexulous' logo, because it means I have five minutes to rub together and kick someone's butt with my mad leet vocabulary.

6. Twitter's logo. As above, but without the butt-kicking.

7. The precious stone, because it's typically set in silver, which I prefer to gold (and not just because it topped $22/oz this week).

8. Some of the details on my Huge Happy Hat (a sombrero with rainbow accents).

9. The LJ pencil. I prefer LJ to FB or Twitter, by a wide margin.

10. Wow, I'm drawing a complete damn blank now. The only other thing I can think of that's turquoise is Nirvana's Nevermind, and I really only like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and several mashups using it.

The photo of your back reminds me of the beach, and the prettiest ocean water looks turquoise :)

If you take this as a request for a color, I'll come up with 10 items, but probably not until Monday.

You get "amber." (due to the fire-looking stuff in your icon's eyes)
Date/Time: 2010-10-01 19:36 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] sskipstress.livejournal.com
That is fire (http://www.sskip.net/gallery/narcissism/kali4) in my icon's eyes.

Where do you stay in Aruba? Would you recommend it for a single woman traveling alone looking for a few days of reading, swimming, and otherwise being lazy?

I've stayed in bost Oranjestaad and in the outlying areas (can't recall the name of the places off hand, though); I preferred being "downtown" such as it is, since you can walk around to all manner of things, without needing to drive.

I think you'd have a fine time of it; very cosmopolitan blend of tourists (lots of europeans and south americans, not just 'merkins), and a very laid-back vibe relative to something like a cruise destination.

crimson (and you're not allowed to use more than one Cornellian thing)

1. [personal profile] hotpantsgalore's hair! I know, it's not actually crimson red, but it's definitely my favorite red thing.
2. Shadeaux's collar! Also, her leash & her harness. She looks super-cute in red - it contrasts nicely with her white, black, & grey coat.
3. Bright red bell peppers!
4. The red FRAGILE labels that I slap on sample coolers when I'm shipping them back to the lab. Breaking out those labels means the sampling day is done & I'm heading home. w00t!
5. The red Puma sneakers I inherited from [personal profile] hotpantsgalore.
6. My red Cornell sweatshirt.
7. Strawberries.
8. The sassy red cover on the futon in our living room.
9. The sassy red couch that Modigliani's model is laying on in the painting Pink Nude Two (http://www.chinae.com.cn/com/dafen/cp_detail.php?id=4102&nowmenuid=7068&cpath=0510:&catid=0).
10. The red droplets of blood on the DVD case of True Blood Season 2.

A challenge. I can't even think of ten maroon things, let alone ten things I like. I'm fairly certain that "large-breasted woman in maroon shirt" will be on the list somewhere.

I love that you said "ecru". My old Rastafarian art teacher gave me a hard time for using such terms ;)

I've never thought of myself as a color, so I'm curious what color someone else might associate with me.
Date/Time: 2010-10-01 20:51 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] etcet.livejournal.com
the violet akin to what's on your LJ page.

Something like BB33BB in hex. :-)

Plum.

(only because I'd already used amber, of course... though you almost got "paisley," but she might want to play)

you, and professor plum. with the rope, of course.
Date/Time: 2010-10-02 00:51 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] tirani.livejournal.com
1) Dreamer's lovely purple rope. (The picture doesn't do it justice. It's a deep wine-y purple.)
2) Fresh plums from a tree, still warm from the sun and eaten out of hand.
3) My winter coat.
4) Night queen tulips, in bright sunlight against the greening grass.
5) A fond memory via a really good bruise.
6) Good merlot from Ravenwood Winery.

I'll finish the rest after I think some more.

Ooooh, tough one.

  1. My Vest Of Many Pockets is navy blue and a most handilicious thing to wear. It has a plentitude of pockets that are reachable and the back pocket is large enough to accomodate an A4 unfolded, in a pinch (handy when you're carrying documents, see).
  2. That's about it. I don't have many navy blue things. And back when I tended to wear a lot of blue clothes, they were a couple of shades lighter than navy blue (and, technically, were infantry dress blues).

4) The refresh button in IE
5) The Bebe cook baby food maker
6) My Green Flash brewery pint glasses
7) The stem on a JackOlantern
8) Hops
9) My Bananas with just a little bit of green left on the stem, Perfect!

Pumpkin

Hmmm, this'll be a bit hard. What makes you think of pumpkin?

1. Jack'o'lanterns
2. Carrots
3. Yams
4. Autumn leaves
5. Butternut squash soup
6. Kitchens painted a pumpkin colour
7. Le Creuset casserole dishes
8. Penguin classics novel covers
9. A select few couture dresses
10. Curry

Boston => Salem => Halloween => Pumpkins was my approximate thought process.
