I can see the appeal of a three letter social shorthand for "Well, fuck me running." In much the same way that the like button and iterations of "THIS" have become shorthanded approval, it's one of those things that got traction.

IMMD (it made my day) is basically the opposite, but I don't use that either.

I tend not to use that particular contrivance (I'll "This" occasionally, but usually with either obvious irony, or further commentary); that might just be because it takes substantially more than that to trigger the response.

Yesterday's flat tire got an actual growl and muttered imprecations, using many conjugations of the word "fuck", but that's not a life-fucking event. Had I been trying to get to the airport to catch a flight to, say, a wedding or a funeral or something, then, maybe.

It's a byproduct of the culture of hyperbole we inhabit - news is not moderate, it caters to the extremes; social commentary and constructs are likewise presented at a high amplitude or they get ignored.

Ice T would probably get overlooked for releasing "Today was a good day" now.

Ice Cube wrote "Today was a Good Day." Ice-T never had good days.

I always figure if I'm not laying in a ditch with a sucking chest wound, today's a pretty good day. :)

Your day to day activities are not the norm, even among my circle of internet friends, dude.
