(or: "What the fuck are all those cars doing on my sidewalk?")
Apparently, the hispanic couple next door have company/hurricany party in progress, which accounts for much of the outdoor traffic (smokers). That said, the sudden appearance of a Crown Vic at the foot of my stairs bears investigation - my car is right by my end of the lot, and is in approximately an inch of water. across the lot, there's a pickup truck in maybe three inches of the wet stuff.
then i look at the complex's main road. eight inches. outside the gate, it looks like about a foot.
i make a command decision - i'm gonna stay here, at the high side of the complex, and put the front wheels up on the curb, to at least keep the expensive front bits of the car relatively dry.
I should probably call my car insurance provider to see if i'm covered in case of flood.
an inspection of the pine needles at the highwater mark indicates that as of this writing, the water has peaked and receeded about two inches. future updates as events warrant.

I take it this wouldn't have been a good week to visit, either?
