This hasn't happened, really. There are songs that I used to enjoy that got played to death (Metallica's "Enter Sandman," for instance, with a side bonus of their subsequent stuff sucking and tainting the rest of their ouevre), and a lot of stuff I've never liked, or actively loathed.
