digitaldiscipline: (Get Off My Lawn!)
My year of legitimately being called Dennis has come to a close. It was quite eventful.

The weekend itself was spent puttering around the house chatting with friends and gaming, rather than going out and being debauched (Fetish*Con was in town this weekend, but I didn't make it anyplace more exotic than Home Depot for a 2x4 (for weightlifting purposes) and a home fire extinguisher (because somehow I have gotten it into my head that I am due for an unfortunate bacon-related conflagration or something).

And the thermostat died overnight on Saturday, so that was an inconvenient thing. I ended up using the netbook to surf and skype because it puts off way less heat, and will be re-calling the service person to say "Uh, hey, kind of need this fixed sooner rather than later due to the whole August In Florida factor."

Now that LJ appears to be done getting stomped by the jackbooted thugs of ($conspiracy_theory_agency_of_choice). There has been no shortage of hue and cry about how quiet it's been around here even before that, and, to be honest, I still prefer LJ to FB or G+ for my socializing and conversation, even if it seems like I'm talking to myself most of the time anyways.

If Google+'s interface were geared toward longer posts, I could see it replacing my own LJ, but I don't see a replacement for the communities anywhere else yet.

I like the more useful ways to find new and interesting strangers on LJ. I fucking hate the random adds I've gotten on G+ (they go into two buckets: "don't bother following" or my intuitively-named "who the fuck is this?" circle)

I'm generally unimpressed with Google+. Also, I am resistant to change. *old fuddy duddy*

(See? You aren't talking to yourself. Its just that the rest of us are sitting quietly, creepily reading everything you say and not responding. Totally not unnerving, that.)

There seems to be quite an I <3 LJ fan club emerging from this recent downtime.

So what do you want for this year? Less eventful? More... ?

More good, I think. I could go for more good excitement.

Even though I haven't much been talking recently, it's still nice to read you here.

(Heck, I still hang out on Undernet most of the time :-P)

Yay for people being able to use LJ again. It was a frustrating week of not being able to really use the site

Your Monty Python is rusty? :-)
