Groceries. Novel stuff.

Blackberries were the single most expensive item when I stopped for provisions last night, and also the biggest impulse buy ("Hey, I should have more fruit and veggies"). Considering that they were the only non-animal-based product (beef, chicken, eggs), this was kind of notable, and certainly illustrates the whole "eating healthy is not the cheapest option" thing NPR was discussing.

Bulk purchases of stuff is in store this weekend. My shopping list currently is "TP," "Milk," and "Honey."

Look, folks, nobody mistakes me for Mr. Excitement anymore for a very good reason...

You're going extremely limited carb / ketosis / Atkins-style stuff, or what?

just high quality meat and fat mostly. grass fed hormone free. essentially paleo. nuts, seeds, hot sauces :> vegetables.

not a lot of added sugars, salts, or wheat or dairy in the diet. i can when i want, but it's completely not even a mainstay or side. some days super low (or no) sugar/carbs, some days not.

definitely nothing to excess. except that burrito. exception :>

it's not even an elimination diet, though i overall feel better than i have in years. it's just SIMPLE, and easy to track, and keeps me alive without having to think about it.

3 quart pails about every month, at about $35 per pail. hard to eat this well, for less.

TP is not an animal-based product. Unless you're using parchment to wipe your butt.

True. However, it was not purchased with the other stuff the other night, and remains on the "buy in bulk" list.

Some of the other things I need to procure are similarly not of the "had a pulse" variety.

Unfortunately, one of them occurred to me last night, and I forgot to write it down, so I have to hope it comes back to mind before going shopping on Saturday. I'm pretty sure "coffee beans" and "canned veggies" were not it, though they do need to be added.

*continues to idly peruse Craigslist for a chest freezer*

To be fair, berries (especially the little ones like raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries) are on the more expensive end of the scale for fruits and vegetables. (though at least blueberries go on pretty decent sales) There are many many other fruit and vegetable options that are less expensive.

That depends where you are. Berries are often inexpensive where I live, sometimes coming to less than $2/pint.

This is very true. I'm going to get more familiar with the ebb and flow of the local produce, I'm sure, but I am a sucker for berries and good Navel oranges.
