Perhaps it's my Buffalo childhood rearing its head, but I just don't get worked up by weather. Okay, yeah, I'd probably need a change of pants after a close call with a tornado, but all this hullabaloo over Hurrican Lili (which, at last check, was packing something like 120MPH winds [Edit: Okay, it's now at 135MPH, which is Category 4, and now has my attention. I have taunted Happy Fun Jew, and I will taunt Happy Fun Hurricane. I will ph33r |\|0 3v1l.], and was booking like hell to the NW). . . I don't give a shit. I'm more annoyed anticipating a loss of internet connectivity than worried about more wind and rain doing anything but making my car wet.

Maybe getting used to having to dig out after three days' heavy snowfall has made me jaded to the prospect of roughly 12-18 hours of rain. TS Isidore was, honestly, not worth writing home about, even as a "first storm" for this Yankee. Maybe I'll change my tune if I lose power for four days or have a trash can hurled through my living room window.
But from where I sit, I see a whole lot of people getting way more worked up and panicky than I honestly see a need for.
I'm not a worrier. I just deal.

Okay, this is fun, buuuut....
The Cat 5 that missed us by 150 miles off-coast still managed to break two windows in my house. Thank gawd I masking-taped the windows, or it'd been in my clothes and everything else.
She's at Cat 4, now. I would seriously get my sh*t in the closet and be prepared to ride it out there. Cover your windows, masking tape, and be prepared.
Oh, and one other thing. If all the phones in your house require a plug-in to work, get one that doesn't. Now. A cheapie $10 at walgreens should do nicely, because I've never been through a hurricane that I didn't lose power during, and you may need that phone, just in case.
Will keep the good "no hurricane" mojo coming your way. Cat4 is not playing around, and you are directly in the projected path...
