prompted by josh, who asked what i've got to bring to bear with the next round of training.... wow, this is a surprisingly long list.

  • 2x oly bars (and one slightly bent one)
  • 2x ez curl bars (one standard collar, one weider spiral collar)
  • 2x db handles (conventional)

  • 2x EFTS monster mini resistance bands
  • 2x 24x24x2" cement pavers (band & deficit deadlifts)
  • rings (can adjust from 1" to 100" off ground)
  • weight/dip belt

Holy bat balls!
In comparison I have 2 pair of hand weights (that are so tiny I'm embarrassed to be specific), ankle weights that adjust from 2# each to 20# each, a handful of jumbo-sized rubber bands of various tensions, a largish pile of yoga, pilates and dance DVDs, a Gazelle (http://www.tonylittlestore.com/2-edgeplus.html) (Tony Little is still terrifying, though), a moderate stash of yoga mats and props, and the desire to be more sexy.

Three questions: What fitness use do you get from a school bus tire? From a largish sledgehammer? Can I borrow said largish sledge to break the ice in my ridiculously badly drained parking lot? If I fall there one more time because the snow-melt pooled there then froze to hockey-rink-perfection I will likely go mad. Again.

That's a very impressive at home gym. Much more equipment than I've got.

It takes up most of my unused one-car garage (along with a workbench, table saw, and stereo).

I got started with about 500# pounds of plates, an oly bar, ez curl bar, and the bench press bench from Craigslist. The Weider stuff was a cheap pickup from a coworker.

The tire and sledgehammer go together - beat the tire with the hammer for cardio intervals.

Other things to do with the sledge: see www.shovelglove.com :-)

Other things to do with the tire: flip it, drag it, throw it. I also use it as a foot support for inverted rows or elevated pushups on the rings.
