Let's just say it: The Republicans are the problem

Seriously, they've been spouting such outrageous idiocy for so long and have dragged the political conversation so far from sanity and rationality that, much like a rotted branch laying on some power lines, threatening to both topple the tree and disrupt service, everything will be healthier, safer, and better going forward if we were to simply cut them off and chop them up for firewood.

I may or may not be speaking metaphorically at the last.

I think the kindest description that could be applied to the conservative party is that they've adopted a pathological form of egalitarianism that has adopted intellectual mediocrity as the normal and strives to impose this ideology with militant fervor.

I rather like the way Mother Jones' magazine cover put it; WTF GOP

Aside from the obvious monetary issues the republican party has contributed to--in a [nearly] religious fervor--there's also the way they've managed to alienate, anger, and upset pretty much all of their constituents. What disturbs me is that there are so many people who actually believe the crap. I mean, I know that Obama wasn't going to be able to magically make everything better overnight. Sadly, we live in a country comprised of Veruca Salt clones; 'I want it NOW!'.

I'm totally with you on that. I also may or may not be speaking metaphorically ... probably not depending on the day. *FacePalm*
