No Shakespeare? Some English major YOU are!

I've read it, I don't -own- it. Unless you want to count the "Norton Anthology of Poetry," the only "english major-y" books I own are a collection of Robert Frost poems, a Sylvia Plath collection, and a moderate stack of "dark contemporary classics" [farenheit 451, 1984, catch-22, lord of the flies, etc].

Honestly, I didn't enjoy reading Billy Wigglestick for class, and certainly am not going to do so for pleasure. That's why -I- own books - to have them when I want to read them, not to look smart to someone who can navigate to my upstairs bookcase. *g* If I need a pertinent quote, I can either go without, or google it [see also: [livejournal.com profile] the_tsm's comment regarding the Heinlein quote about violence in one of his journal threads yesterday].

I think I'm down to owning maybe a half-dozen books I never, ever want to read again [2 anne rice, a couple of other bits of crap fiction]. I limited my list to authors I own more than one book of, which made me substitute Richard Adams [Watership Down, Shardik] for Ray Bradbury [F451], because I've lost my copy of "Something Wicked This Way Comes."

Now that the credit cards are paid off, however, I suspect that my book-buying habits will return. . . which will again necessitate buying bookshelves, as the three-shelf unit we got this spring is already stuffed.

Sorry - half-dose of coffee this morning after a poor night's sleep. Didn't mean to get up your nose, dearie.

A) The MAXIMs are all under my desk with the computer parts anyway - there's no book room on that shelf already. Heh.

B) The Christopher Moore books are all yours. I've just read 'em and liked 'em. ;-)
