As a byproduct/upshot of my telling bigots to fuck themselves when it comes to sexual orientation and gender bias, I've re-stumbled upon the fractal evil and stupidity of humanity.

In Cryptonomicon, Neal Stephenson, through the character of Randy Waterhouse, describes another character's life as "fractally weird," in that it's weird when you look at the whole thing, and any closer examination of any part of it reveals detailed weirdness in an apparently infinite recursion. Looking at the ways in which men (and some women, but mostly men) are generally awful to women (and homosexuals, and transgendered folks) for a ten-thousand-foot summary view I'm trying to cobble together for Tecca, it's very nearly impossible to end up not falling down a tremendous number of nearly parallel post-holes of shittiness, and with the recent Readercon episode, that's spilled over the threshold from online shit to real-world iterations of that culture and mentality.

I've requested a couple dozen Backup Ribbons to wear and hand out at D*C. If anybody wants one, I'm pretty easy to find. If anyone needs backup, I'm more than willing to do so, both in my capacity as a guy who tries not to be an asshole, and as a member of the D*C staff, whose job it is to ensure that the event is enjoyable and safe (I'm may not be Con Security, but will have them on speed dial).

Were I still going, I'd say have one for me. THIS, of so many things, is important.

I hate that such things are necessary, but I am so glad that people are doing the ribbons.

If I were going, I'd do that! Good for you. (I keep saying maybe next year. Maybe next year. I need to stop breaking up with people/being broken up with by people who might go.)

I totally promise not to break up with you. ;-)

Hahaha. That's like a divide by zero error or something.

I'd like one (btw, I have a new phone and lost your number, so if you could fb-msg it to me in for D*C, that would be cool).
