So, here's a fun way to strip some people's gears:

Ask them their stance on firearms.
Then ask how they feel about North Korea's nuclear aspirations.

Sorry...I'm not getting the connection here.

I've seen some very "no nukes for you" sentiments expressed by folks who are very vigorous 2A defenders, as well as experienced my own moment of consideration as someone more towards the gun-control end of the spectrum (and am a fan of nuclear non-proliferation)...

This made more sense first thing this morning, but that may have been the lack of caffeination making me believe I was clever.

Ah. Your reading list must skew more toward the NRA-type. 'Cos me and my gun-owning friends are pretty solidly anti-nuclear proliferation.

I got it. Same way, but moreso with Iran. I kind of respect Ahmedinejad (sp?) for calling us out on our double-standards on who's allowed nuclear technologies and who isn't. Who appointed the US god?

The geneva conventions and the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (which, as mighty_man pointed out to me via email, are roughly equivalent to gun registration in the sense that bad actors won't sign, or won't abide), while not necessarily making the US the ultimate arbiter and gatekeeper, kind of make noise in that direction.

but, yeah, i think it's understandable that the have-nots can question the haves unilateral judgement of who gets to have.

NK has as many rifles as it wants, and apparently as many nukes as it wants. Why are you making Grandma angry? ;)

Troll: Yes, they want zero nukes... but they want to build one and then get rid of it through use, so they can get back to having zero nukes! ;-)

nah, it's more fun to poke at vegan zealots by pointing out that vultures eat meat, but don't kill it, so humans can to :)

roadkill is the ethical white meat!

but you still might need a gun to put it down if it's suffering.

This would be less funny if there weren't a ton of vultures kettling in front of my office and occasionally swooping past my 4th-floor window. :-)

kettling is a term i've heard used lately with police tactics... not vultures :>

there's a LOT of dead deer now exposed by the missing snow. many vultures.

Nothing a soaring bird loves more than an asphalt parking lot in Florida sun...
