Okay, because I'm bitching about it this week, and the lovely [livejournal.com profile] elixxir was kvetching about it not so long ago, and my dad was mulling the idea, I'll throw it out for general ponderation:

Five hundred bucks a year, a hundred dollar deductible, no-frills car insurance for arguably non-idiot drivers [non-idiot qualifications pending].

How many of you would go for something like that? Show of hands, please.

i agree that the legal =requirement= to be insured is what makes this extortion particularly onerous.

then, to compensate when it's too fucking expensive to get insured, they'll make it more expensive if you've ever had an insurance lapse. . . oh, and if you live somewhere where many people don't have insurance, you get to pay more, in case one of them hits you.

quite a fucking racket, i must say.
